U23D…U2?

This looks amazing!

3-D technology continues to improve and evolve…bringing back the magic of the good ol’ fashioned moviegoing experience.

Steven Spielberg and George Lucas have hinted that they are working on a 3D technology where a thicker cinema screen replaces the glasses.

Spielberg, whose DreamWorks Animation studio will be releasing all future films in both 2D and 3D versions, said recently that this was just the beginning.

“Some day in the not too distant future you’ll be able to go to a movie and it will all be happening around you, over your head, under your seat,” he said. “We are going to produce imagery that will once again take you on a mind-blowing journey. That’s what movies are all about.”

I am definitely going this weekend!!

U2?

Sony’s “The Water Horse: Legend of the Deep,” a family film inspired by the legend of the Loch Ness Monster,  has prompted an amazing stunt in Tokyo Bay.   The effect illustrated above is achieved using a large water screen and some very well timed water fountains.  Imagine driving past that on your way home from work!

Move over Godzilla.  Nessie’s takin’ Tokyo!!

In order to get the full effect, check out the video here.

It is in Japanese, but you get the idea.

VERY cool concept and use of the technology…

Yo Gabba Gabba Go!

I am a big little kid…but I usually do a good job at hiding it well.  There are very few shows that can bring out the awesome silliness in me like YO GABBA GABBA…and I thought I’d share it with those of you who haven’t discovered it yet.

I have been a fan since the first season debuted in the Fall last year and I am very excited that it will be renewed for another season of 20 more GABBAlicious episodes on Nick, Jr.!!!

I am obviously not alone in my enthusiastic endorsement as it was voted one of the top 10 new television shows of 2007 by Time Magazine!  Think I am kidding?

They wrote, and I quote, “The most delightfully bizarre kids’ show since Pee-Wee’s Playhouse, YO GABBA GABBA is a marriage of club music, edgy animation and surreal imagery that will convince you someone slipped something into your Fruity Pebbles.  Like a rave party for kids, with art segments by Devo’s Mark Mothersbaugh and music from bands like The Shins, it’s gorgeous-looking silly fun, for adults too. In the words of one of its highly contagious songs, this is a show with a party in its tummy. ”

For those of you who are not familiar with the show and/or living under a rock – check it out.  It is even more cool if you actually have kids.

It’s time to get YO, children of the world.  Dance!!
