Thanks to my friend Chris, I stumbled upon the below campaign for Disney Star Wars Weekends, an annual summer special event at Disney’s Hollywood Studios theme park in Florida. For the weekends starting May 22nd and ending June 14th, 2009, the park is offering special shows, presentations and memorabilia celebrating the saga.

Since it is opening weekend for another Sci-Fi phenomenon, STAR TREK, I thought it would be appropriate to give a little buzz for the “other” Galactic Adventure series.

Below are some of the posters from this year’s event along with some prior years for your viewing pleasure.

…and finally, I had to post this hysterical “Dancing with the Star Wars” video from the 2008 Disney Star Wars Weekends:

If you are planning a trip to Disney in the next few weeks, I’d love to hear what you think! Check out the official website by clicking here.

Coraline and Craftster

I discovered this brilliant little website today thanks to a Twitter feed from CORALINE author Neil Gaiman…it completely blew me away!!

Craftster is an online community where people share hip, off-beat, crafty diy (do it yourself) projects. The term “Craftster” means “crafty hipster” and is also meant to be an homage to the pioneer peer-to-peer sites Napster and Friendster.

Craftster is the largest online community for what is now commonly known as “indie crafts.” (“Indie” stands for independent as in indie music, indie art, indie film, etc.) Craftster is regarded by many as one of the cornerstones of the recent renaissance in crafting known as the “indie craft movement.”

As I have posted before, I can’t say enough about the brilliant artistry of CORALINE and how wonderfully magical Selick’s stop motion animation was in this classic film….and it has clearly inspired others to be creative in showing their fandom. Check out this photo post from Crafter.org:

…and this video from one of the knitters responsible for making the mini costumes for the character puppets is awe-inspiring!! Check it out;

WOW. Feeling the need to CREATE something??! Swing on over to Crafster.org!!
