Leviathan

The latest novel from Uglies author Scott Westerfeld, LEVIATHAN, is scheduled for release on October 6, 2009 and I am very excited to share the trailer here!

The first in a trilogy for Young Adults, LEVIATHAN is set in an alternate history World War I that fuses together steampunk themes and elements (like airships) together with warped historical events. Here is the synopsis from Simon and Schuster website:

It is the cusp of World War I, and all the European powers are arming up. The Austro-Hungarians and Germans have their Clankers, steam-driven iron machines loaded with guns and ammunition. The British Darwinists employ fabricated animals as their weaponry. Their Leviathan is a whale airship, and the most masterful beast in the British fleet.

Aleksandar Ferdinand, prince of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, is on the run. His own people have turned on him. His title is worthless. All he has is a battle-torn Stormwalker and a loyal crew of men.

Deryn Sharp is a commoner, a girl disguised as a boy in the British Air Service. She’s a brilliant airman. But her secret is in constant danger of being discovered.

With the Great War brewing, Alek’s and Deryn’s paths cross in the most unexpected way…taking them both aboard the Leviathan on a fantastical, around-the-world adventure. One that will change both their lives forever.

The first chapter of the book can be found on-line and I’ve linked to it here.

Looking forward to reading this one!

The Wolfman Cometh

wolfman

If 2008/2009 was the Year of the Vampire, then 2009/2010 will be the Year of the Wolf.

With TRUE BLOOD introducing shapeshifters earlier this year on HBO and Stephenie Meyer’s highly anticipated NEW MOON rising in November, the upcoming entertainment spectrum is getting… (ahem)… hairy.

And now, Universal has finally launched their official trailer for the remake of the horror classic THE WOLFMAN!

Postponed from April 3, 2009 to November 6, 2009 and now to a February 12, 2010 release date (due in part to additional visual effects work required), THE WOLFMAN offers an all-star lineup including Benicio Del Toro and Anthony Hopkins.

Check it out!

While it is a bit alarming that the film is bouncing around release dates due to technical issues, the trailer looks great and the cast is solid.

James Cameron’s next epic, AVATAR, finally has a trailer. Check it out here!

I saw 20+ minutes of the film in its 3D glory and was blown away…but can it hold up for feature length? We shall see!

What do YOU think?
