Can’t resist posting this for those who haven’t already checked it out.

Chris Weitz (are you listening??), I hope you have done the Twi-Hards proud and crafted this much anticipated sequel with more sensitivity to maintaining the magic of the book (something that was sorely lacking in the adaptation of TWILIGHT).

No pressure.

From the looks of the new trailer and the clip below, melodrama and all, this does not look like it will disappoint!!

And, of course, this little teaser that was released just following Comic-Con is just a taste of what is to come…

WOW. Those are some foxy wolves! (yeah, I said it….so??)

Don’t worry, I am still and forever will be TEAM EDWARD.

Tony, Tony, Tony and Tony

One of the most anticipated films of the year (in my humble opinion) is Terry Gilliam’s latest film, “THE IMAGINARIUM OF DOCTOR PARNASSUS” …

Not only is this the film that gifted young actor Heath Ledger was working on when he died in January 2008, but it is also the one that ends with the on-screen credit “A Film From Heath Ledger and Friends” with colleagues Johnny Depp, Jude Law and Colin Farrell coming together with the director to finish the film in the same role as Ledger, that of the hustler Tony.

In a nutshell, the story finds Dr. Parnassus (Christopher Plummer), a 1,000-year-old traveling conjurer, touring around London with his beautiful young daughter in an ancient show wagon, doing battle for souls by offering audience members the opportunity to explore new dimensions of their own minds with a magic mirror – a device given to Dr. Parnassus through an unfortunate arrangement with Mr. Nick, AKA the prince of darkness (played by Tom Waits).

Tony (portrayed by Ledger/Depp/Law/Farrell), a hustler of uncertain morality, joins the show after he is nearly hung…and soon thereafter becomes part of a rescue mission to save Dr. Parnassus’ daughter when she is kidnapped by Mr. Nick.

Check out the trailer here!

At the time of Ledger’s death, there were apparently three remaining fantasy scenes to be shot, and so rather than abandoning ship, Gilliam decided to have three different actors, all good friends of Ledger’s, to portray Tony in each of the remaining scenes…using the magic mirror as a device to explain the transformations.

Despite some rumblings from Cannes that the film isn’t as fantastic as hyped, coupled with the challenges that the film has had in finding a US distributor, this film looks incredible and it doesn’t take a magic mirror to see that THE IMAGINARIUM OF DOCTOR PARNASSUS will be a cult classic and beautiful epitaph for a young life lost too soon.

Twilight Graphic Novel Coming

Entertainment Weekly (EW), my favorite magazine, has posted details regarding the latest offering the world of TWILIGHT – a graphic novel (manga style).

Here is the passage from the article:

Yen Press will be publishing Twilight in graphic-novel form, publication date still to be determined. Though Korean artist Young Kim is creating the art, Meyer herself is deeply immersed in the project, reviewing every panel.

Take a close look at the biology-class sketch we’ve obtained (that’s an empty dialogue bubble between their heads, if you’re wondering).

What’s interesting to me is that it doesn’t look simply like an artist’s rendering of Kristen Stewart and Rob Pattinson. In fact, the characters seem to be an amalgam of Meyer’s literary imagination and the actors’ actual looks.

The description of Edward from biology class: “His dazzling face was friendly; open, a slight smile on his flawless lips. But his eyes were cautious.” And Bella: “I was ivory-skinned …. I had always been slender, but soft somehow, obviously not an athlete…”

To me, this graphic-novel Bella seems much closer to me to Meyer’s book than to Stewart’s sultry portrayal. The Edward shown is closer to Pattinson, but not a real duplicate; there’s something very winning in the sketch that I don’t see in Pattinson’s all-too-perfect tousled bronze locks and piercing eyes.

Check out the article at EW’s website here. According to the website more images will be featured in tomorrow’s publication (July 15, 2009). Pick it up, check it out and let me know what you think!

This all sounds great, of course….but I know I speak for the fans when I say that we are hoping that Stephenie Meyer dedicates some time to new novels – like sequels to THE HOST series.

We are waiting very hopefully for THE SOUL and THE SEEKER….bring us more of that saga as well!!
